KAVAN Protective Dope STANDARD, 100ml

Clear nitro dope for protection of metal parts and shrinking of covering papers on small models and mini-scale-models. For brush, roller or spray application.

Use: dilute the dope as needed with KAVAN Thinner STANDARD; apply to the cover with a soft flat brush or roller. Apply 2–4 coats; always allow paint to dry for at least 24 hours and sand with 6000–1000 grit fine sandpaper. When used on a model with an engine, a fuel-resistant topcoat must be applied (e.g. KAV56.9990 KAVAN Top Coat POLY, 5MA4401 RC Color clear spray paint).

Remove excess undried paint: a cloth or paper towel dampened with KAVAN Thinner STANDARD.

Paint thinning: The dope is supplied in concentrated form, depending on the need and method of application it can be diluted with KAVAN Thinner STANDARD in any ratio to achieve the optimum consistency for application.

Suitable for: surface protection of metal parts (brass, copper, aluminium, etc.) against oxidation and as a "shrinking" dope with limited shrinkage for shrinking model covering papers and textiles (e.g. Vlies) on small models and mini-scale-models with a subtle structure. (Compared to STANDARD or COLOR shrinking dope, it has much less shrinkage and adds less weight.)

Not suitable for: materials not resistant to organic solvents (polystyrene foam, etc.)

Weight gain: 10ml of undiluted dope adds about 0.7g to the weight of the model.

Storage: in a tightly closed container, in a cool, dry and dark place (at 15°C to 25°C / 59°F to 77°F). Do not expose to temperatures below 5°C and never to frost.

Shelf life: under proper storage conditions, we guarantee shelf life in the original unopened packaging for 1 year while maintaining the above product properties.
